Position Overview:
The classroom teacher associate is responsible to assist the teacher as directed in learning experiences for the preschool-aged students to which he/she is assigned in the areas of spiritual development, cognitive, receptive and expressive language, fine and gross motor and self-help and social skills; Responsible for the assisting in classroom activities and implementation of educational curriculum designed for each student as directed by the teacher and to further the ministry and mission of the Bright Hope Learning Center Responsible for assisting with supervision of volunteers in the classroom and performing other duties as assigned, including some cleaning/sanitizing so as to keep our environment healthy for our students.

Key Job Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Coordinate daily with teacher regarding classroom preparation and lesson plans.
Prepare materials for classroom as needed
Implement appropriate classroom curriculum as directed by teacher
Assist teacher with implementation of annual goals and objectives for each student
Assist teacher with implementation of appropriate behavior management techniques
Assist teacher with implementation of activities as recommended by physical, occupational, and/or speech therapist
Assist in the training, supervision and encouragement of classroom volunteers
Adhere to all program policies and procedures including universal precautions
Daily attendance at Flock (morning devotional)
Daily cleaning and disinfecting of classroom toys, furniture, equipment, and flooring
Maintain necessary supply of disposable items (i.e. Kleenex, paper towels)
Attendance at designated staff meetings
Attendance at monthly parent meetings to take care of the kids or help with the hands-on meetings (time will be compensated by time off)
Attendance at Bright Hope extra fundraising events: Mini-Laps, Garden Party, Festival of Lights
Attend workshops/seminars as requested, CS In-services and relevant conferences
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Anticipate needs of the classroom
Other duties as needed or required
Requirements
Required:
Personal relationship with Christ manifested consistently in her/his life as a Christian in work and personal life
High school diploma or transcript of highest degree earned
Works both independently and cooperatively as a team member with all BHLC staff.
Incorporates a welcoming and teaching attitude towards students, families, guests, student interns and others who come to learn from the Bright Hope Team
Able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks
Works well with children
Able to lift small children
Preferred but not required; will be trained:
Experience with children with special needs
Experience with children birth through six years of age.
Basic knowledge of sign language is a plus
