Company History
Founded in 1972 as the Kentucky state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), KHC promotes the public understanding of the humanities in Kentucky. Support comes from an annual appropriation through the NEH and from grants, gifts, and sponsorships from foundations, corporations, state and local government, and individuals. KHC is governed by a volunteer Board of 23 Kentuckians, five of whom are gubernatorial appointees and the rest who are self-elected by the Board.
